Kennebec has a licensed addiction counselor in our church who is available for a variety of counseling needs.

Joe Hazel has over 30 years in the counseling field and holds a Master of Divinity degree with a
concentration in Pastoral Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake
Forest, NC. He was ordained as a minister in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church of Raleigh with the
approval of the church and the Raleigh Baptist Association Ordaination Committee. He is a
Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist and Certified Clinical Supervisor by the North Carolina
Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board. His is privileged to provide services for Substance
Abuse as well as other Mental Health issues. His experience includes children, adolescents, adults,
and the elderly with problem areas in, but not limited to, spitituality, relationships, family issues,
depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse/dependence, psychological addictions (gambling, food,
sex, etc.), as well as some of the more serious mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, bipolar
disorder, and others if they under the care of a psychiatrist. We provide assessment, treatment,
and referral.
